This course targets new staff with no knowledge of Afrikaans. This is a fun-filled course offering you a linguistic and cultural taste of Afrikaans as a language in a wider cultural context.

Audience - all staff that has no knowledge of the afrikaans language
Objectives - It aims to develop students ability: - to speak social Afrikaans with confidence; - to understand the gist of social conversations; and - to understand the gist of short texts (newspaper articles, notices, etc.). Basic grammar; vocabulary and idiomatic structures are taught in a defocused manner.
