The two-day workshop focuses on supervising postgraduate research students in intercultural contexts. The opportunities and challenges inherent in cultural diversity are discussed. Participants are introduced to different ways of dealing with intercultural incidents, including different value systems, different ways of relating to hierarchy, characteristics of different cultures. Skills needed in intercultural communication in the postgraduate research supervision context are explored. The content of the workshop is based on current and relevant scholarship on intercultural research supervision.
