
Lead with Disability @ Work
The primary objective of the course is to provide opportunities for staff to learn more about disability-related issues, promoting a disability-conscious and competent SU. The course aims to give staff the tools and knowledge to engage consciously and competently with people with disabilities in co-creating working and learning environments that are inclusive of people with disabilities. The course is coordinated by the SU Disability Inclusion Advisory Committee (DIAC).

Objectives - The course is guided by the social model of disability which focuses on societal barriers that exclude people with disabilities. The focus of the course is on how we as society can transform our thinking, attitudes, knowledge and behaviours to be inclusive of people with disabilities. This will include our work environments and practices, how we engage and accommodate students with disabilities, how we include staff with disabilities in staff activities and the types of accommodations needed by people with disabilities which includes reasonable accommodation and the use of assistive devices and service dogs.
