The SU Leadership Coaching Programme is a strategic initiative aimed at embedding a humanising culture within Stellenbosch University by developing leaders equipped with essential skills for organisational advancement and effectiveness. This programme integrates practices from leadership, organisational development, consulting, counselling, and strategic thinking, ensuring a comprehensive approach to leadership growth.
In today’s fast-paced environment, leadership coaching is recognised as an invaluable resource for individuals seeking to enhance their impact and overall performance. The coaching process is personalised and skills-based, supporting leaders as they identify and overcome key challenges. The programme specifically targets individuals who are already in or with high potential for leadership roles, enabling them to achieve greater effectiveness and drive positive change within the institution.
Each year, 150 leaders from Peromnes levels 1-6, who hold formal line management responsibilities, are offered the opportunity to participate in the programme. The coaching initiative prioritises leaders tasked with driving people, culture, and institutional performance. Selection of candidates is based on their potential to further the university's strategic goals, including transformation, inclusivity, academic excellence, and organisational wellbeing. The coaching focus is on staff at critical leadership transitions, in pivotal roles, or whose personal development is seen as instrumental in accelerating institutional culture change.
